Alder Magazine Issue 1

Alder is a new magazine edited and published independently by Scottish architect Mary Arnold-Forster. “This is not an architecture magazine in the traditional sense,” Mary writes in her introduction, “…a whole cast of people – architects, artists, builders, craftsmen, boat builders, bakers, photographers and writers, have collaborated to bring it together.” As such, Alder paints a powerful picture of the broad and deep roots of craft in rural Scottish culture - past, present and future.
