These wooden stools are handmade in Shetland by Cecil Tait of Paparwark. The Creepie is a favourite vernacular item of furniture from Orcadian and Shetland culture, found today throughout Scotland. “Creepie” means “to stoop” in Old Scots, and Creepies were used for any task that required being low, from milking cows to stirring porridge, children’s seats, foot rests and stepping stools. The handy finger holes allow you to take your Creepie with you wherever you may need it next. Our creepies are available in elm, oak or ash.
