In Marc’s own words: ‘This is part of my ongoing exploration into metal spinning. A common feature throughout these works is that their complete 3-dimensional forms are realised through the process of crimping on the lathe with no soldering or welding needed. There is a purity in their construction which respects the process; a true piece of mono material design.”
Pylon has taller brethren with the single spun aluminium form stacked repeatedly. As Marc explains: “These holders take their inspiration from Brancusi’s endless column. PYLON features a repeating shape which can be connected, in theory, an infinite amount of times, but in my case as many times as my lathe bed will allow. Also fun fact: it turns out the first electricity pylon in the UK was built in Scotland.”
What is your favourite aspect of Scottish winter?
