These teapots have an ancient quality to them, as if they may have been dug up from Pompeii or discovered entombed with a Pharaoh. They are in fact made today in Glasgow by Jonathan Wade of Ingot Objects, using an iron-rich highly textured clay. Fired at a temperature where the surface begins to bubble and crackle, the outside is left unglazed to make the most of the tactile effect. They turn the tame task of making tea into an exciting, almost spiritual ritual.
Given the nature of the hand-thrown process, the material and the glaze, these pieces will all be slightly individual.
